Marcus is a graduate of Leeds College of Music having studied piano under the tuition of Jakob Fichert and Nico de Villiers. Marcus has particular interest in piano accompaniment, chamber and contemporary music. From his early teens, he has experienced a broad range of accompaniment engagements; from instrumental, operatic and vocal accompaniments. Early engagements include accompanying for the Music and the Deaf Society and the Leeds College of Music Annual Gala Concert (LCoM 50 Years). More recent engagements include public recitals at Home House London, Milton Court London, Dukes Hall London, The National Children’s Museum Halifax, Howard Room Assemble Hall Leeds and Wakefield Cathedral. For two years running Marcus was ‘Young Emerging Artist' at the Leeds Lieder Festival 2016/2017 and have worked as a project repetiteur for the Bergen National Opera and Mahogany Opera Group.

I have had the pleasure of working with Marcus for the past three years. His honest approach to our rehearsal process has meant that we have been able to work as a team to produce high quality performances at recital venues around the UK. As a song accompanist, Marcus is highly sensitive to the singer’s musical needs. I have always felt that we are working as a musical partnership - an ensemble - as opposed to simply being ‘singer’ and ‘accompanist’. I would highly recommend Marcus as a song accompanist, he has always been fantastic to work with!

For piano accompaniment-related affairs, Marcus is regarded by many of his colleagues as a first-choice contact. This is credited to his punctuality, professionalism and capability to work with people of varying musical ability. His sight-reading skills are excellent and he is extremely reliable even at short notice.
