Kit Packham plays alto and tenor saxophones and either sings or doesn't sing, according to your wishes or the suitability of the occasion. Nick Tomalin accompanies on piano, perhaps using an organ sound on some numbers, if he's using his own electronic keyboard rather than a grand piano in situ at your venue. To make it a trio, we add Alex Keen on double bass or Derek Gayle on drums. With them both added we become a quartet! On some occasions Steve Knight or John O'Reilly on guitar might replace Nick Tomalin. All 5 of these musicians are also in Kit's 7-piece swing/jive band One Jump Ahead (available and profiled on Encore) and so have played together on many occasions. We are an excellent choice when pleasant background jazz music is required to create a sophisticated ambience during a drinks reception or a meal. We cover a huge range of much-loved jazz standards from the 1920s to the 1970s and will improvise tastefully as well as playing the melodies. With the considerable experience that can only be won by actively performing at many events we can also play lots of non-jazz material too, such as 50s and 60s pop hits. If things get lively and you want to get your guests dancing, we can play some rock'n'roll, soul/Motown or funky material with Kit adding his vocal to the mix. Given reasonable notice, we're happy to include a special request or two. If we get requests at the event that are already in our repertoire then we're happy to play them. You'll find Kit happy to discuss your event with you, without obligation, to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day.

I really loved your set last week in Chiswick and what a shame it was not fully booked – I hope better next time.
