Having studied a mulitutde of instruments from the age of 5, Kirsten began vocal tuition when she was 14 and fell in love with classical singing. After her family moved from Cornwall to Worcestershire in 2008 she studied with Coral Gould MBE and entered many competitions whilst under her tutelage, most notably the Association of English Singers and Speakers (AESS) Junior Prize in 2011 for which she was awarded 2nd place.
In July 2016, Kirsten graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a BMUS(hons) in Classical Vocal Performance. During her 4 years at Trinity Laban she trained with vocal professors Theresa Cahill and Wendy Eathorne. She was fortunate to have been involved in several performances during her studies; ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ – Britten (2015), ‘Carmina Burana’ – Orff (2014), ‘A Musical Fusion of East and West’ – a collaboration with flautist Lin Lin to perform a traditional Chinese song in Mandarin (2015), ‘Otello’ – Verdi (2012). In 2015 Kirsten was a finalist in the ‘Chandos Young Musician Competition’ based in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Kirsten also has a love for the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan and joined the Centenary Company in London whilst she was studying at Trinity Laban. Whilst she was with the company she performed the roles of (in chronological order): Plaintiff – Trial by Jury, Celia – Iolanthe, Casilda – Gondoliers, Melissa – Princess Ida and Josephine – H.M.S. Pianfore.
Most recently, Kirsten has been performing with Dorset Opera’s Summer School in the choruses for their productions of: ‘L’Elisir d’amore’ – Donizetti, ‘Un Ballo in maschera’ – Verdi, ‘Eugene Onegin’ – Tchaikovsky and ‘Macbeth’ – Verdi.
