About Kadia

Folk Trio
Dorset
Kadia is an acoustic trio from Bournemouth in Dorset performing a mix of traditional and contemporary folk songs alongside classical pieces.

Kadia is an acoustic trio from Bournemouth in Dorset performing a mix of traditional and contemporary folk songs. We combine cello, fingerstyle guitar, ukulele and mandolin with three part harmony to create rich and uplifting music interspersed with history and storytelling. Our debut album, East of Alexandria, made the Telegraph list of top folk albums of 2015, calling it a record “full of unexpected surprises”, and it was nominated for a Fatea award alongside Stick in the Wheel. The album has been well received and positively reviewed in publications including Shirefolk, and Fatea Magazine who said that this was “an album of promises fulfilled”. This year, Kadia performed on Main stage 2 at the Cambridge Folk Festival alongside La Vent du Nord, Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys, and Wildwood Kin. This adds to an ever increasing list of respected Festivals including Priddy Folk Festival, Stogumber Festival, and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival. Kadia have had the opportunity to support Gilmore and Roberts, The WIllows, Moulettes, Nizlopi, Jackie Oates, Jim Moray, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston, Jess Vincent, and Ninebarrow among others.
