Jordi Morell is currently studying for Postgraduate advance with Rivka Golani at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance supported by Peter Fuller Holden Scholarship for Viola. He previously studied for his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degreehere as a Trinity Laban Scholar, and awarded with the Band/Kurtz Prize for Viola in 2012.
Born in Vilaseca, Spain, Jordi started to play the viola at the age of 6, with Joaquim Miracle at the Music School of Vilaseca. At age 13 he gave his first concert as a concerto soloist with the music school orchestra playing the Telemann’s Viola Concerto. The following year he was accepted into the Oemuc (Youth Orchestra of Catalonia Music Schools). In 2007 he became a member of JONC (National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia) working with conductors such as Karl Anton Rickenbacher, Josep Pons, Edmon Colomer, Antoni Ros Marbà, Salvador Brotons and Manel Valdivieso. In his final year of the Music School he performed Trauermusik by Hindemith as a viola soloist with the school orchestra. Following this, he formed a duo with fellow violist, Gabor Somfai, performing recitals in London, Hungary and Spain which included Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No 6. He was also a member of the Bardac Trio which performed in London and Spain.He is also a member of the riviola quartet
