Johanna Finnemann

Johanna started to play the violin at the age of 6 and joined her local chamber orchestra and her first string quartet at the age of 13. She has since been playing in a variety of orchestras and ensembles. She first became interested in early music when she joined Germany’s Baroque Youth Orchestra while still at school with which she has since been performing at a variety of international music festivals such as the Handel Festival in Halle, the Thuringia Bach Weeks, the International Fasch Festival and the Musica Sacra Festival in Nuremberg. Apart from recording for radio, this also enabled her to work together with and receive instructions from members of the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin, the English Baroque Soloists, Il Giardino Armonico and others. When she is not playing baroque violin, viola or viola da gamba, she enjoys returning to her modern violin for chamber music and orchestral projects.
