Joel Rocca has had wonderful opportunities to play, record and tour with various bands and ensembles in the UK and Europe. From performing in the Wembley Arena and the Olympic Stadium to local pub Jam nights, Joel enjoys performing on a regular basis.
Having obtained a Bachelor of Music (with Honours) from Canterbury Christ Church University, Joel is now embarking on a portfolio career of music performance and education.

Joel is a core member of 'The Urban Big Band' based in London and can be seen performing with them at their events. The Urban Big Band is a 17-piece band based in North London, playing everything from Count Basie jazz to funked-up Beatles, with plenty of latin sounds along the way. Generally performing in and around London, Urban have appeared at jazz festivals, corporate engagements, and various well-known jazz venues. Repertoire consists of music originally performed by the great big bands of Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington and Count Basie along with modern arrangements from the likes of Tom Kubis, Mike Tomaro, Alan Baylock and the complex rhythms of Latin America.
Joel plays both tenor and alto saxophone for '9 Lives'. A jazz project set up by Joel and pianist Thomas McBrien. '9 Lives' are a quartet who play both original music, and jazz and funk standards. '9 Lives' perform as both a new and exciting jazz band, experimenting with genre boundaries and also as a jazz function band. Joel offers private tuition on saxophone, clarinet and piano from his home studio in Potters Bar (EN6). Joel also teaches in schools as an instrumental tutor for Enfield Music Service, as well as teaching at North London Music Centre, and Herts Music Centre.
In addition to performing, Joel uses his time to compose and produce music. He is regularly creating compositions for short films and adverts, as well as collaborating with other producers to create records for up-coming artists.
