Trombonist
St Helens

I began playing trombone aged 8 in a local youth brass band. Throughout the next 10 years I developed my playing ability mainly under the guidance of David Little. I became Solo Trombone in Skelmersdale Prize Brass Band and Wigan Youth Brass Band at age 13, recorded a CD with Wigan Youth Brass Band on which I was featured as a soloist and we toured France and Germany several times. I won 2nd place in the Merseyside Police Young Musician competition in the Under 14 category, and acquired my grade 5 music theory and grade 8 performance age 16. I have appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in London, twice, for the Brass Band National Championship of Great Britain competition and have also played on the popular radio programme Listen to the Band with Leyland Brass Band. During my time studying at the RNCM I played in big bands, brass bands and orchestral ensembles with international soloists such as Jiggs Whiggham, John Dankworth and Anita Wardell. Over the years I have played in various musicals such as Sweeny Todd, Die Fledermaus, Oklahoma and many more. Most recently I have taken up drumming at Jamm Studios under the guidance of Lee Davies and now also enjoy playing drums in a rock/pop covers band as well pursuing my brass playing career.
