One of the University's most active and well-regarded music societies, Jesus College Music Society promotes music-making of all kinds.
As one of the most active and well-regarded music societies across the university, Jesus College Music Society exists to promote music-making of all kinds in the College. Alongside our orchestra and termly concerts, we run a successful and prestigious weekly recital series in the beautiful setting of our College Chapel which has attracted some of the top soloists and chamber groups from across Cambridge. We also have our very own Big Band and support an array of chamber ensembles throughout the College, including a gospel choir! Recent concerts given by the JCMS Orchestra have featured Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Stravinsky, Britten and Finzi. The annual concerto competition has in the last number of years featured Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, Elgar's Cello Concerto and Grieg's Piano Concerto. Other special recent performances include the premiere of a special commission by Sebastian Black as well as music from 'West Side Story', 'Apollo 13', 'Gone with the Wind' and 'Chicken Run'.
Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it.
