I've played the trumpet since I was 7 years old, starting lessons at my primary school where I was encouraged to join the local community youth wind orchestra. Upon joining, I worked my way up through the intermediate band and in to the senior band where I eventually earned the principal chair. After the collapse of my original youth band, I joined the South Gloucestershire Youth, Wind and Jazz orchestras where I have spent the past two years in the principle seat, leading a large trumpet section. Through South Glos, I've had the opportunity to play in the Birmingham Symphony Hall as part of Music For Youth National Festival, as well as go to Germany on a tour in 2014 where we played at the Nacht Der Vulkane festival, a huge event in Mendig which attracts thousands of visitors. Since passing my Grade 8 with a distinction in March 2015, I have played in a local theatres pit orchestra and I'm currently preparing to play at a wedding with Bring Down the House, a 14 piece jazz/soul band who have performed at Bristol Harbourside Festival, Cheltenham Racecourse and countless events and weddings. I am look to go forward and study English Literature at Bath Spa in September but this does not mean that I will be leaving behind my musical roots. I aim to join the many music societies Bath Spa has to offer such as the Big Band and Concert Orchestra, as well as their choir. Music is something I want to carry on doing on the side of my prospective English-based career as it is something I love doing. I did intend on pursuing it as a career however was restricted in school and college as I was unable to take music as a subject so I have, since then, promised myself to get as involved in music as possible wherever I can.
