Classical and Electric Violinist Studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. 1st Violinist of the Lux Quartet
In 2012, Helena studied the violin with Peter Campbell-Kelly and received a scholarship to study violin, piano and chamber music at Birmingham Junior Conservatoire for three years before attending the Royal Northern College of Music. In 2014 Helena appeared as soloist and leader in Solihull’s “Vivace Strings” performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Croatia. She also has been a member of the National Youth String Orchestra performing in many notorious venues around the UK. Helena enjoys playing in musicals, previously playing in Youth Music Theatre’s “Variete” in Riverside Studios, London and will be performing in Oklahoma! in Nottingham Arts Theatre in February 2017. Helena also has a large interest in session work, and enjoys playing her electric violin in pop/jazz bands and ensembles. Helena is a vibrant orchestral player. Over the past two summers she has toured in California with the San Diego International Youth Symphony. She has been a member of the CBSO Youth Orchestra since 2012, performing in Symphony Hall regularly under the baton of notorious conductors such as Edward Gardener, Jac Van Steen and Andrew Litton. Helena is now studying the violin with Catherine Yates at the Royal Northern College of Music. Here she has performed with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra and performed sonatas by Beethoven and Grieg in the Logah Duo. Helena is the first violinist of the 'Lux Quartet' a quartet with an interest in contemporary music, jazz and session work. The Lux Quartet have taken part in the National Youth String Quartet Weekend and have been coached by members of the Elias, Carducci and Talich Quartets. She also performs in String Infusion, playing electric violin and viola at high class corporate events and the Ridente String Quartet who perform at weddings and events.
