About Good Traditions

Good Traditions's profile picture
Traditional Irish folk group
Walsall
Public liability insurance of £5 million
We play a great mix of Irish folk songs and other folk music, mostly in a tub-thumping style! We love people to sing & dance along with us.

The Good Traditions Irish & Folk Band began life in 2012 after being asked to provide entertainment for a St Patrick's Event in the West Midlands (shades of Only Fools & horses anyone?). Since these inauspicious beginnings, when by their own admission, they "weren't very good for 3 hours", they have gone on to perform over 100 gigs in the past five years. They have spent the time learning lots of traditional Irish favourites, but also enjoy throwing in other folk-rock stuff too with Mumford & Sons being a real favourite, plus even some of their own material. Based at the Bath Street Centre Church in Walsall, Good Traditions were very honoured to be asked by the Mayor of Walsall to play at her 'Mayor Making Ceremony' at Walsall Town Hall, and they will also be playing at the forthcoming ‘Mayor’s Civic Awards’ again in the Town Hall. No matter the size of the venue, be it indoor or out, their aim is to lead you in singalong, foot-tapping, tub-thumping and hopefully dance-along songs!

The best band in town. I had them for my Mayor Making Ceremony and they went down a storm. I re-booked them for a charity event and we danced and laughed for hours - they bring out the best in people. I am so looking forward to working with them again soon at the Mayor’s Civic Awards.

I booked Good Traditions based on various recommendations for a large local outdoor event that I organised at Christmas. There were around 1500 people there, and they rocked the place! Over 2 hours of joyous foot-stomping music with singalong songs. The best act of the 6 nights bar none - I have re-booked them for multiple nights next year
