Orcadian folk duo based in Glasgow. First year students on the Scottish Music course at RCS. Danny Kyle Award winners 2015
Gnoss is the new project from Graham Rorie and Aidan Moodie - two award winning Orkney-born traditional musicians, currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The music of Gnoss comes from a rich Orcadian musical heritage, combined with the compositional flair of the two highly stylistic young musicians. Since forming their first band at the age of 13, the two 19 year olds have gone on to win the Orkney Folk Festival’s Open Stage, as well as two Danny Kyle Awards at Celtic Connections, and have played in outfits such as Broken Strings, Teebro, The Jo Philby Band, and No Soond.
With a musical sensitivity beyond their years, the carefully selected combination of songs and tunes within Gnoss’ set makes for a lively, engaging, and incredibly honest performance. A mix of traditional and self-penned tunes creates a collective sound that spans many influences, whilst always staying true to the boys’ traditional roots.
