Gloria Birardi is an Italian Harpist based in Dublin. She received a Master of Music Degree in Harp Performance in 2006 with Maria Di Giulio. She started teaching harp in 2006 and she graduated in Musical Education and in “Orff Method”. Additionally, she has a Master in Music Animation (Practice and methods), and a Master in Electronic Music. Gloria has performed in Masterclasses with harpists such as Marcella Carboni (Jazz Harp), Lincon Almada (Improvisation and Folk Music), Sara Simari and Ivan Roncea (Classic Music). Having recently relocated to Dublin where she specialized in MA Music and got Trainee for the second year in the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Geraldine O’Doherty. Her first Recital Solo was in 2005 and she continued her solo career, performing all around Italy. In the same year she started collaborating with different orchestras like: OGI (Italian Youth Orchestra); the “Fondazione Petruzzelli” orchestra in Bari; “Sinfonica della Provincia” of Bari; “Orchestra Sinfonica Regionale” of Molise; “Orchestra Sinfonica del Mediterraneo” of Foggia; “Orchestra Sinfonica Lucana”; “Orchestra Saverio Mercadante” in Altamura. Now, living in Dublin, where she had the occasion to perform with the “RTE Symphony Orchestra” and the “RTE’ Orchestra” with the “Trinity Orchestra”, “Clare Memory Orchestra”, “SinfoNua” and “Dublin Orchestral Players”. She did several projects with Chamber Music groups, playing different genres starting going from ancient music to jazz. She was part of different recordings: “Tarantula Garganica” for folk Italian music, “Aulos Ensemble” for ancient music, Berio’s “Folk’s Songs”, “Seirenes” (premiere) by Damiano D’Ambrosio and “Poker” (premiere) with “Orchestra Italiana di Arpe” by Stefano Ottomano. Gloria teaches harp to students of all ages and abilities, on both pedal and lever harp. She is collaboring to the teaching staff of Kilternan School of Music in Dublin.
