Cellist. Bassist. Jazz. Classical. Pretty much anything else...

Originally from Kent and currently based in London, I studied at Goldsmiths College, under the tutorage of Alexander Ivashkin and Leonie Adams, and graduated with honours, specialising in Advanced Classical Performance. Though my formal studies have focussed on classical music, I have experience in and knowledge of a diverse range of styles and genres, from folk and world music, to rock, pop and hip-hop. I have a particular interest in jazz and improvisation, and have studied with Ben Davis and Gary Crosby. I am passionate about exploring the cello's diversity, developing crossover styles and bridging the gap between classical and popular musics. I also work as a bassist (upright, electric and fretless) regularly playing bass in various jazz groups and big bands. As a session musician I pride myself on being flexible, enthusiastic and easy to work. I am confident sight-reading, playing by ear, improvising form chord charts or arranging parts either from scratch or based on existing material. I have performed at venues including... Hackney Empire (Rachel Rajan, 2015) Royal Festival Hall (with Wild Street Ensemble, 2014, Nick Zinner and Southbank Sinfonia, 2014, Robert Mitchell, 2014) The Purcell Room (with Tunday Akintan, 2013, with Antonio Forcione, 2014) The Barbican (with Neil Cowley Trio, London Jazz Festival 2012), Shepherds Bush Empire (as part of a backing vocal group for Jessie Ware, 2012) I undertake regular session recording work for film and theatre for clients including... Warner Chapel (voice), Pisces Rising (cello), Coy Content (cello), Riverside Studios (cello), Inti Rowland (cello/voice/bass), CJ Reardon (cello/voice), Antix (cello) Theatre work includes the Lyric Theatre (Facing East, 2015) and The Gatehouse Theatre (Goodbye Girl, 2015)
