Celtic Harpist and Singer with wide repertoire of traditional, classical, popular and religious tunes, and some Paraguayan harp music.
Fionnuala was wonderful, her playing is so lovely. We had asked her to play a piece of music for our Blessing which has a special meaning for both of us. She did, it made our day so, so special. Thank you so much.
Fionnuala plays a 31-string Ossian Clarsach made by Tim Hampson of Bere Ferrers, Devon. She was fortunate to have a musical upbringing, with lessons on Piano ( Grade 7 with Distinction) and on Violin (Grade 5), and has sung solos in choirs and on stage. She has been teaching herself to play the Celtic Harp since she was given one in 2005. She subsequently spent 4 years travelling in Europe with her family and the harp, playing in over 150 different European towns and cities. Since 2010 she has been settled back in Devon, and has been building a good reputation for her beautiful music and varied repertoire. She plays for weddings and all sorts of functions, and can be heard every Friday night in the restaurant at the Two Bridges Hotel, Dartmoor. She also has several pupils of all ages learning the Celtic Harp. Inspiration for her ever-expanding repertoire comes from many sources: such as, her Irish and English heritage and her love of folk music, her classical and religious upbringing, and her love of rhythm and world music. She plays many traditional tunes, some classical pieces, some popular tunes, and some Paraguayan Harp music. She also knows many hymns and carols. By popular request she recorded her first cd "Travelling Tunes" in 2012, which was very well received. Her second CD, “Harp from the Heart”, was released in September 2017 and is also proving very popular. She is a member of the Maristow Singers, and the Mount Kelly Choral Society, and also sings to her own accompaniment. Fionnuala is friendly and down-to-earth, and her fees are very reasonable. If you book her for your wedding ceremony, she will invite you to a private audience at her home, if convenient, to choose the special music for your big day.
