Dunja Lavrova is an award-winning, extremely versatile violinist. Available for concerts, sessions & events hire alone or with her band.

Russian-British violinist Dunja Lavrova began her musical studies in St Petersburg. By the age of 11, whilst a student at St Peteresburg's legendary Special Music School, she had already won numerous competitions, toured Germany and Peru and frequently appeared on National Television as a hotly-tipped young violinist. At the age of 13, Dunja won a full scholarship at The Yehudi Menuhin School and moved to U.K. permanently, leaving the rest of her family behind. She continued her higher education as Bachelor of Music and Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music and won various awards during that time, most notably The Tagore Gold Medal, presented by HRH Prince Charles and Young Artist of the Year at the Arts Club, Mayfair, presented to her by Sir David Attenborough. Dunja has given solo and chamber recitals and performed as a soloist with various renowned U.K. and Russian orchestras at venues such as the St Petersburg Philharmonia Grand Hall, Moscow's Bol’shoy Theatre, Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), Kings Place, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Soho Jazz Club and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, as well as at numerous other concerts and festivals around the U.K., Europe, Russia and South America. She has participated in masterclasses with some of the greatest professors, including Mstislav Rostropovich, Igor Oistrakh, Pierre Amoyal, Zahar Bron, Zvi Zeitlin, Dora Schwarzberg, Robert Levin and many others. Dunja has performed violin concertos with various orchestras, including Russian National Television and Radio Orchestra, The Concert Orchestra of St Petersburg, English Symphony Orchestra, Russian Virtuosi of Europe, Kent Sinfonia, King's Chamber Orchestra (London), Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra, London Concertante and others. As a chamber musician, she has given recitals at various prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Soho Jazz Club and appeared on French National Television with Ensemble Metamusika, of which she is the Leader and Director. Fanatical about the “Golden Age of Violin” era and on a self-proclaimed “mission” to bring the scores and the playing style of that period to the audiences of today, Dunja has recorded her highly acclaimed “authentically-recorded” debut album in 2015 when she signed a record deal with solo Music/ Naxos (now Sony). The album, called “My Dusty Gramophone”, was recorded in the style of mid-20th century studio records: in live takes, with minimum reverb, on vintage equipment, mastered on analog tape. The album has received numerous positive reviews and a lot of media attention worldwide, including airplays on BBC Radios 3 and 4, a review inside BBC Music Magazine and a full feature in Classical Music Magazine's May 2015 issue. In addition to performing classical repertoire, Dunja frequently performs with Jazz, Pop and Rock artists, leads Abba the Tribute and Whitney Houston shows on tour, and appears alongside Big Bands. Dunja has also been performing with the John Wilson Orchestra since 2012. Her most recent project, “Dunja Lavrova and The Hot Three”, places her as a lead soloist with the support of a jazz trio, in a musical fusion which mixes classical, traditional jazz and vintage Hollywood - with an original, modern twist. In 2017, Dunja became an editor of archived scores for Carl Fischer Music, a company responsible for publishing the most popular transcriptions by the legendary violinists of the Golden Age Era, such as Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler and Misha Elman among many others. Carrying on with that great tradition, in her spare time she enjoys arranging and composing music herself.

Intentionally recorded close to the microphones without reverb in order to recreate the sound of the "golden age", Lavrova gives her all with winning spontaneity in a series of Heifetz favourites.”
