an individual with a strong and identifiable musical voice, Diogo is quickly making a name for himself within Cardiff and London's music scene.

My name is Diogo Filipe da Luz Fernandes, born in Portugal. I have graduated from Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco (ESART), finishing the course the highest grade. Currently, I am taking on a Master's Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, under the tuition of Gerard McCrystal. Since a very young age, music has always had an important place in my life, and at the age of eleven, I entered at the Conservatório Regional de Setúbal, taking saxophone classes and music theory classes. I was also involved in several masterclasses and internships of Orquestra Sinfónica da Metropolitana, Orquestra de Sopros de Setúbal (Portugal), and the Grand Union Orchestra (UK). Since the beginning of my Bachelor's degree in Portugal, I performed with various ensembles outside the context of the university projects. My work with the Vision Ensemble, a chamber music group composed by a string quartet, a saxophone, and a piano. The performances include a variety of sonorities over a large array of styles and composers from Bach to Verdi to Piazzolla and even Morricone. Our original arrangements make us a unique asset in the Portuguese music scene. I also have participated in several saxophone masterclasses with names such as Claude Delangle, Mario Marzi, Henk Van Twillert, José Massarão, James Houlik, Gerard McChrystal, Antonio Belijar, Albert Juliá, Jean Ives-Fourmeau, Otis Murphy, Michel Supera, Jarome Laran, Timothy Mcallister, Andy Scoot, Helder Alves, Carlos Canhoto e Fernando Ramos. In my first year at ESART, I started to work as a saxophone teacher at the Conservatório Regional de Castelo Branco for two years (2014 – 2016). I have been developing a particular interest in the art of teaching. In my lessons, I cover a wide range of styles and genres and I could help on the improvement of saxophones skills such as sight-reading, harmony, music theory and aural skills. I am also a friendly, patient and encouraging person who transmits the emotion for the saxophone to his students. Teaching available for all levels and ages including preparation for all grades (1-8).

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure that your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £100.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up about 1 hour before the performance time. As soon out PA is set we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely! I bring my own instrument to play acoustically.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.

What do your clients love most about your performances?
