Deronne White is a flautist of Jamaican descent from London, and studied with Gitte Marcusson, Simon Channing, Adam Walker and Stewart Mcilwham at the Royal College of Music. He was also a recipient of an RCM Study Award supported by Ian Evans Lombe for his undergraduate studies. At the RCM, Deronne had the opportunity to take part in masterclasses with renowned flautists such as Adam Walker and Juliette Bausor. He also regularly took part in orchestral projects, including serving as principal flute in the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra in Elgar’s ‘Enigma Variations’ and Sibelius’s ‘Symphony No.2’. Prior to his studies at the Royal College of Music, Deronne experienced a wide range of orchestral repertoire through being a member of several youth orchestras such as the London Schools’ Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Whilst in NYO, he had the great opportunity to be involved in the recording of ‘The Planets’ by Gustav Holst and ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ by Richard Strauss, which was released under Chandos Records. As a freelance musician, Deronne is a member of the Chineke! Orchestra and the Brixton Chamber Orchestra, and has worked with other organisations including the Paraorchestra and the East London Music Group. Deronne has performed at venues and events such as the BBC Proms, Royal Festival Hall, Edinburgh International Festival and the Brit Awards. He has also toured to Europe and the US and performed at venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Lincoln Center in New York. Deronne has also been a part of several musical documentaries and filming sessions which include the BBC Documentary 'Black Classical Music: A Forgotten History' with the Chineke! Orchestra, the Sky Arts Documentary 'Reinventing the Orchestra with Charles Hazlewood' with the Paraorchestra and the Apple Music Classical Commercial with Music in Vision.
