Decatur Street Jazz is the real deal. Taking Jazz standards and making them their own (ask for their version of Art Blakey's Moanin'!) as well as jazzing up the occasional rock and pop hit. Spice Girls? Yep! Red Hot Chillis? Sure. Camila Cabello? Why not! Fronted with Rosie's vocals, which have been described by clients as a mixture of Ella, Billie and Amy Winehouse (their words!) Decatur's charm lies in their ability to read a room and play to their audience. Whether it's giving a couple the opportunity to slow dance to 'My Funny Valentine' or for everyone to sing along to 'Feelin' Good'. Individual members have played at notable venues including Ronnie Scott's, The Jazz Cafe, Kansas Smitty's and The 100 Club, performed in front of a crowd of thousands and supported Nile Rogers. Together they have 20+ years combined gigging experience and pride themselves on giving their very best at every performance.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We are available as a trio, but also as a duo (vocals and keys) and as a solo singer with backing tracks.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem, just keep us in the loop and we'll do our best to make everything work!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, there is an extra charge of £90 per hour of DJ sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

We need around an hour to set up, but if you've upgraded your PA then we'll need 90 minutes.

Can you roam around while you perform?

No.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, absolutely. And you can veto any you defnitely don't want as well!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our standard fee includes a PA suitable for up to 80 guests. If you have more than 80 guests we suggest an upgraded PA system which is an extra £150. The upgrade includes the addition of our sound engineer so we make sure the music is bang on for your event!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, but we need at least 30 days notice and we charge an extra £60 per song.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our sound! We all have eclectic music tastes and this comes across in our performances. We're gigging regularly as individuals with different projects and we bring those influences back in to the trio.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

A lot! But one of our favourites was The Clapham Grand! Individually we have performed at Ronnie Scotts, The Jazz Cafe, Kansas Smitty's and The 100 Club.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We have all been heavily influenced by very different artists, to name a few... Ella Fitzgerald, Tower of Power, Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, The Dave Matthews Band, Billie Holiday, Ami Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Led Zeppelin, Thelonious Monk, Sarah Vaughn...

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Probably the Great British Gin Festival!

The band were fab before, during and after the event. They helped me with all tech issues and were very accommodating when I had to change venues. As for entertainment value I could not have asked for a better modern jazz band. They had everyone on the dance floor and the vibes was buzzing and they even took requests! Thank you for making the birthday extra special with your amazing talent!

Rosie and the band made the music for the event INCREDIBLE. They sounded amazing, they read the room, they had amazing stage presence and honestly created such a wonderful atmosphere. Rosie went above and beyond for the event and made the night so extra special. Thoroughly recommend Decatur Street Jazz if you want awesome musicians, an incredible singer and true professionals.
