Reviews

From customers:

The gig circuit loves them, the songs on their website are being downloaded at a rate of knots, and the group's gifted vocalist, Debbie Clare, is about to feature on Massive Atttack's greatest hits album Collected, which is coming out at the end of the month. The track is called Joy Luck Club and appears on disc two of the collection, alongside tracks featuring Liz Fraser, Damon Albarn, Mos Def and Madonna. Yes, Oom are most definitely on a roll. The band describe their sound as the mutant offspring of Bjork, The Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails. Firmly rooted in dark and dirty ambient beats and soaring vocals, comparisons can also be made to Lamb, Portishead and Goldfrapp.

Brighton-based electronic grungers Oom have already picked up a few celebrity fans for their distinctive and haunting sound. Public Enemy's Chuck D and Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja have both expressed admiration for Oom's blend of loops, beats, and 'extreme wigglyness'. Singer Debbie Clare's voice strikes straight to the heart, falling somewhere between Bjork and Lou from Lamb.
