About David

David is a composer for clasical ensembles and writer of jazz songs.
Composer
London

I have worked with African, Latin and Indian musicians in London since the early 80s and have completed a wide range of different recording projects, mainly at Jenako Arts in Dalston and Hackney Community College. I am presently working with a wind quintet to record a suite of 8 pieces entitled 'Castle Music'. This and other playlists of my work can be found on my Sound Cloud page: David Seymour 1961 . I am keen to collaborate with as many ensembles, singers and groups as possible.

I have known Dave Seymour as a friend and musical collaborator for 17 years, working closely together on various projects including ‘Camden Mews’, a collection of 20 original pieces for violin and guitar, where I contributed violin to Dave’s pieces and he played guitar to accompany mine. I then played violin on Dave’s jazz CD ‘Into the Blue’, where I saw at first hand his ability to manage a whole recording project, including rehearsals, studio/engineer hire, scheduling of recording sessions for different musicians, and catering, followed by mixing, mastering and duplication. In the recording context Dave has the ability either to give musicians the freedom to express their own ideas according to a chord chart, or he can provide a detailed score. I am now based in New Zealand, but I continue to follow Dave’s projects as he branches into more classical styles. I know Dave to be a talented, creative composer and an efficient organiser and motivator of musicians. I am looking forward to collaborating again with him when I come to the UK this summer.
