David Lee

David Lee is a prominent young countertenor who is currently a member of the NI Opera Studio Programme for the 19/20 season. He has recently completed his Master’s degree at The Royal Academy of Music, receiving the Helen Eames Prize, where he studied with Glenville Hargreaves and Chad Vindin. David performs regularly in both secular and non-secular settings. His operatic roles include Oberon (Britten, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Giulio Cesare (Handel, Giulio Cesare), Orfeo (Gluck, Orfeo ed Euridice), and Apollo (Mozart, Apollo et Hyacinthus). Other performances include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms; Vivaldi’s Gloria, alongside a number of other Oratorio works. Alongside his solo work, David has extensive ensemble experience. He was a choral scholar in The Chapel Choir of King’s College London for three years with whom he performed regularly around England, as well as travelling to Italy, Germany, the USA, and Canada. David was also a member of the a cappella group All the King’s Men for four years.
