Born in Romania, Dan began his studies at the age of 10 at the Octav Bancila Arts School of Iasi, Romania, under the guidance of professor Valentin Petrescu, where he was awarded his first bassoon prize at the annual musical interpretation competition. After moving to Spain, he continued his studies with Laura Guasteví at the Vila-Seca Conservatoire in Spain. During that time, he participated in many masterclasses with renowned bassoonist such as David Tomàs, Dag Jensen and Silvia Coricelli. In June 2013, he got the chance to perform in a series of concerts the e minor Vivaldi bassoon concerto with the Vila-Seca string ensemble. In September of the same year he moved to London to study his undergraduate degree at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, generously supported by the TCL scholarship, under the guidance of Julie Andrews, Paul Boyes and Simon Estell. Here he has been awarded the Harold Clarke Woodwind Competition and The Vernon Elliot Bassoon Competition prize and the Sir Barbirolli Foundation Scholarship (Royal Philharmonic Society). In September 2017 he began the Master of Arts programme at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His orchestral training started with the Catalonia Youth Orchestra (Jove Orquestra National de Catalunya). During his studies at trinity he performed in numerous side-by-side scheme allowing him to play as 1st bassoon alongside members of the Philharmonia Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Wales National Opera, BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestra. In December 2017 he joined the Czech Symphony Orchestra for a tour around China, performing in venues such as Oriental Art Centre(Shanghai), Changsha Concert Hall, Zhuhai Grand Theatre and many others. Since 2015 he has been playing regularly with the Orquestra Camera Musicae, giving him the chance to tour around Catalonia and Spain, performing in venues such as Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Euskalduna Concert Hall. More recently he has been offered the co-principal bassoon position with the same orchestra.
