Romanian mezzo-soprano Cristina Negoescu is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the guidance of Lorna Anderson and Anne Mason. Starting the year 2014 Cristina has been an alto scholar in the BBC National Chorus of Wales. Cristina has a strong interest in both opera and oratorio. Her oratorio repertoire includes the alto soloist in Handel’s ‘Messiah’, Pergolesi’s ‘Stabat Mater’, Vivaldi’s ‘Stabat Mater’ and Symanowski’s ‘Stabat Mater’. In July 2017, she made her opera debut as Jenny Hildebrand in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama production of Kurt Weill’s ‘Street Scene’. She is currently undergoing her postgraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the guidance of Anne Mason and is the recipient of ‘Sophie’s Silver Lining Fund’ scholarship.
