About Charlotte

Violinist, third year Historian at Christ's
Violinist
Cambridge

Charlotte started playing the violin at the age of eight and studied with John Rogers in Cambridge until 2012. While at school, Charlotte performed on successful tours to Prague and Berlin as the leader of the Cambridgeshire County Youth Orchestra, and led her school Symphony and Chamber Orchestras during tours to Belgium and Germany. She also played in a number of amateur orchestras around Cambridge. Charlotte was a first violin in the CUMS Symphony Orchestra during her first two years at Cambridge, and continues to enjoy orchestral playing this year as co-leader of the Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra. Charlotte is also a keen chamber musician and solo performer. In addition to performing string quartet and piano trio works at Christ's, Charlotte has played chamber music at several garden parties. A particular highlight of solo performances was the opportunity to perform Bruch Violin Concerto No.1 in 2012. In 2014 was the joint winner of the Charles Blackham Memorial Recital Competition at Christ’s. In addition to the violin, Charlotte also learnt the piano with Antoinette Cann and is a member of the Chapel Choir at Christ’s. The choir performs regularly at London venues including St. Martin in the Fields and undertook a substantial tour in Canada last summer, and records a CD each year.
