About Champagne Swing

Champagne Swing's profile picture
Gypsy jazz band
London
Hot swing, continental style. Brings a fun, toe-tapping, sophisticated feel to any event!

Formed in 2007 out of a jam session in a bar in New Cross, South London. Four friends enjoyed playing together so this band was formed. The individuals in the band between them have played on large stages across the world, in festivals up and down the UK and abroad, at jazz clubs, concert halls and theatres playing music of all styles (from North African, to New Orleans, to music of The Doors, to blue grass etc.) Champagne Swing brings them together to play music inspired by the great recordings of Django Reindhardt for more intimate events generally in London and the South East. We play a selection of swinging jazz standards, traditional gypsy folk tunes, french musette, walzes and bossanovas, creating the relaxed atmosphere of a French Cafe on a hot summers afternoon. A few of the dozens of venues we’ve played at: Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, The Hurlingham Club, Le Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons, Corinthia Hotel, Dartmouth House, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Tate Britain, Christies, London Hilton, Mandarin Oriental, Fulham Palace, City Hall, The Ritz, Royal Academy of Arts… Ideal as a quartet, but may also perform as a trio. “Everyone thought the music was fantastic, I received lots of positive feedback and my only complaint is that wandering off for photos meant I had less time to listen to you. Please pass on our appreciation to your colleagues.” “Everyone really appreciated your music and I've had loads of complimentary feedback. Matt was especially impressed at how you looked like you were really enjoying yourselves and I loved the harmonica! It was perfect.”

My huge thanks to you and all in Champagne Swing for your excellent music on Tuesday evening at our St George's Banquet on board HQS Wellington - really uplifting stuff that added greatly to the convivial atmosphere of the evening. I'm rather sorry some of them carried on chatting through your brilliant 'concert spot' - a different crowd from January! - but the compliments fed back to me afterwards were universally full of praise. I'm delighted at what you've brought to both events for us, and shall be more than happy to pass on your details to anyone who asks. With very best wishes, Tony
