Catherine Ring is a freelance session musician working in London, Bristol and Wiltshire.
Catherine is a member of the critically acclaimed Colin Currie Group, a virtuosic percussion ensemble that specialises in the work of Steve Reich. They recorded Reich's 'Drumming' in May 2017, and Reich himself refers to them as a 'Super Group'. Catherine also joined nine-piece alternative brass group 'Perhaps Contraption' in 2016 as a percussionist, singer and writer. The band secured a residency at the London Jazz Festival last year, and have won several awards. In 2017 they will be performing at Glastonbury Festival and touring in Poland and Austria. Catherine's theatre and commercial work includes: -Lion King musical UK -Daughter tour UK -Gaz Coombes album launch, London -Katherine Jenkins recording for Sky Arts -Cathal Smyth album launch, London -Zingzillas samba episode with Rhythms of the City samba band -Imogen Heap and EnsembleBASH, BBC Proms -Dionne Warwick and friends, World Hunger Day, Royal Albert Hall -Clod Ensemble Theatre company in their production of ‘An Anatomie’ at Sadlers Wells theatre Catherine was the principal percussionist of Southbank Sinfonia 10. She has worked with orchestras both in the UK and abroad including: -Philharmonia Orchestra -Orchestra of the Royal Opera House -BBC Concert Orchestra -Britten-Pears Symphony Orchestra -Academies Festival Orchestra in Singapore
