What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I'm very happy to accommodate changes as I know it's important for you to get your event right. If there is any significant extra amount of playing required, I may require a top-up fee to account for this, but I'll always go for minimum hassle!
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Absolutely. I can play music through my system either of a similar genre to what I play, or a mix of any other genres desired! And this doesn't cost any extra!
How much time do you need to set up?
Ideally I need at least an hour to set up plus time to remove my cases to an appropriate space, and any time required to get 'out of the way' before event guests arrived, if that is necessary!
If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?
Absolutely, I have often worked this way – provided I have some verification from you or the venue that the piano is in tune and in good working order.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
I'm very happy to consider accommodating any requests you may have for what I play. A typical list of the kinds of songs I play can be viewed on my profile here.
Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?
Yes, I have Roland's flagship RD-2000 keyboard with a wealth of piano sounds from bright to mellow to suit every occasion.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Unless the song requested is in fact a movement from Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto – yes, there's a good chance I could play a song requested in my style, with adequate (at least two weeks') notice.
What do your clients love most about your performances?
I think they love the mature musicality I bring to bear on any situation – pitching the music just right for the occasion to entertain or simply provide ambience.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Queen Elizabeth Hall, Hotel du Vin (Tunbridge Wells), the Waldorf Hotel in Canary Wharf, numerous private garden and house parties, Chislehurst golf club.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
Bill Evans, John Taylor, Brad Mehldau, Herbie Hancock, Aaron Parks, Chick Corea, McCoy Tyner, Mulgrew Miller, Nikki Iles.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
Probably a concert as part of a young musicians' festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in front of a panel of judges. That was an event to remember!
