Ben Gibbs

Ben has been playing the bagpipes for over 20 years. He is a former Army piper, having served in 1st Battalion The Highlanders/4 Scots and played with The Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band. He played at the highest level in the pipe band world in Grade One, recently placing 5th in the European Pipe Band Championships and 7th overall in the World Pipe Band Championships. He has also recently performed live on stage with “Wet Wet Wet” in a sold out concert at Edinburgh Castle. He has previously played for The Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band, coming 1st in the qualifiers at the World Pipe Band Championships 2008 and placing 10th overall. In 2009, He played for the Grade One “Manawatu Scottish Society Pipe Band (New Zealand)”, placing 9th in the World Pipe Band Championships and following that he played with Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band. During his time in the Army, Ben participated in numerous high profile events including: • Performing live on BBC 1 for the Queen at Horseguards (London) • Playing for The Royal Family at The Royal Hospital Chelsea • The Edinburgh Tattoo • Performing for the Prime Minister of Australia in Canberra and Sydney • Playing for The President of Russia in Moscow • Performing at Buckingham Palace at The State Banquet for The Queen, hosting the King of Saudi Arabia and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. • A member of the Royal Guard in Ballater in 2006. Over the years he has also played in numerous tattoos, music festivals and events all over the world including England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Germany, the Isle of Man, Russia and Australia, such as: • Live on New Zealand breakfast TV • The Royal Yacht Britannia • On stage in Quimper (France) at the Festival de Cornouaille 2007 • On stage at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for Celtic Connections 2008 • Featured on the BBC Show “Hairy Bikers” • On stage with Wet Wet Wet at a sold out Edinburgh Castle concert in 2017 Ben is available to play in standard day dress with jacket and waistcoat.
