About Baroque Encounter

Baroque chamber ensemble
London
Early music chamber group presenting exciting repertoire in vivid & engaging performances ranging from recitals to semi-staged concerts

Baroque Encounter was established in London, in 2004. Though soloists in their own right, together they present recitals of beautiful music in a luxurious mix of favourite ensemble pieces, virtuosic pieces for two instruments, and vocal and instrumental solos. Along with more popular baroque works, Baroque Encounter offers audiences the opportunity to experience the splendours of under-valued baroque gems. In 2012 Baroque Encounter were invited to perform in the Palladium Baroque Festival in Malmö, Sweden. Back on home ground they have appeared in venues ranging from the intimacy of London’s Handel House Museum (seating 28 people) to the expansive Fairfield Halls (filled to capacity with 1,600 people), and from an unprecedented packed-out National Portrait Gallery (London) recital to the Chichester, Chelsea, and Dulwich festivals. Their respective solo performances have taken them around the UK, Europe, South America, East Asia, Africa, and to Australia. Sharing the excitement and enjoyment the trio experience with their music is an important element of their work. They conduct interactive workshops in schools, festivals and as part of some of their performances. Whilst performing in an historically informed manner they strive to maintain a friendly modern approach to all performances. On occasion they have added musical forces for particular repertoire and to stage theatrical works by Handel including Parnasso in Festa, dramatic cantatas for his Roman patron Ruspoli, and his penultimate opera, Imeneo.
