Anna is a soprano, 'cellist and pianist from Edinburgh. She is in her third year studying education and music at Fitz. She is musical director of The Fitz Sirens, Cambridge's oldest and largest all-female a cappella group. In summer 2016 Anna managed the sellout Fitz Sirens & Fitz Barbershop show at the Edinburgh Fringe ('Academic: Cambridge A Cappella On Tour') and also toured to China with these groups. Previous work includes: Vivaldi 'Gloria' (soprano soloist); Mozart 'Requiem' (soprano soloist); Faure 'Requiem' (soprano soloist); Britten 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (Moth); Handel 'Jephtha' (Chorus); Handel 'Messiah' (soprano soloist). Awards include the Sheila Tough Prize for Modern Language Song, 'outstanding' in the Operatic Aria category in the Edinburgh Competition Festival, and the David and Carolyn Keep Scholarship. Anna has extensive choral experience, working with the Brussels Chamber Choir, Fitz Chapel Choir, King's Voices, The Deeside Choristers, Cambridge University Chamber Choir, St Faith's Singers, the Sing Inside Project, and St Mary's Music School Chamber Choir. She is also a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland and its Chamber Choir, and has worked with conductors such as Robin Ticciati, Donald Runnicles, and Christopher Bell. With NYCoS she has performed at the BBC Proms, the Edinburgh International Festival, the BBC Music Nation and the Aberdeen International Festival, with performances including the world premiere of Paul Mealor's 'Crucifixus' and critically-acclaimed performances of Adams' 'El Nino' and Durufle's 'Requiem'. She has recorded for the BBC and Signum Records, and recently toured Belgium with King's College London Symphony Orchestra as a 'cellist. In 2015 she toured Milan and Lake Como with the Brussels Chamber Choir, appearing as a soloist at the World Expo 2015. Beginning her musical life as a chorister, Anna studied at St Mary's Music School with Margaret Aronson and Ruth Beauchamp and participated in masterclasses with Lynne Dawson and Philip Higham. She is also a jazz vocalist and has worked with Randy Brecker, Peter Evans and Rob Ironside, and sang for Sir Chris Hoy at his award of the Freedom of the City in 2012. She has worked as a music teacher since 2012, both on a freelance basis and for the outreach project of St Mary's Music School.
