'Simply mesmerising!' (2019 Launch review) Animo is about energy and emotion and we deliver on both! Based in the stunning Forest of Dean, Animo is our creation. We are flautist Sarah Waycott and pianist Yanna Zissiadou. We formed our duo to play soulful music that everyone will love and connect to. We are both classically trained professionals and between us we have over 30 years’ experience of performing live, conducting ensembles and choirs and teaching music at all levels and ages. Our big idea for Animo was to choose music without labels or restrictions and perform music that we describe as 'Declassified'. Another strand to Animo is ‘collaboration’, whether it is with other musicians (amateur or professional) or working with composers to create new works written specifically for us. We are currently preparing to record six new pieces for our second CD album ‘ANIMO two’. Even though we are a relatively new ensemble, we have a strong presence on the internet and a dedicated team of technicians who film, record and support our events and recording sessions. Since our launch at Gloucester Blackfriars in 2019 we have been busy working on new repertoire, livestreaming online and created our own 'Jailbreak concert' after the first Lockdown. Sarah plays a selection of flutes and is also an accomplished cellist. Yanna has her own travelling keyboard and is usually busy pretending to know what to do with mixing desks, cables and microphones! We believe that Animo’s music will surprise and inspire a lot of different people, even if they may not think they will enjoy Classical Music, even less so, Contemporary music. Our most recent reviews tell the story of our performances: '[We]were blown away by the versatility of Animo. The pieces were very atmospheric and made even more so by the surroundings. I'm not a great fan of contemporary music but I loved the pieces you played which weren't, as I would say, too off the wall! You make a great duo and look forward to hearing more from you both.' 'You are the most wonderful duo and it was the most exciting evening, to listen to such unique music which was played to such a high standard. Every piece was elevating and enthralling to listen to.' 'Thank you so much for a most delightful and inspiring evening of wonderful music in the company of friends. I cannot remember a more enjoyable experience. The playing of Yanna and Sarah was sublime and their choice of music just perfect. '

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The beautiful music and our relaxed convivial style of presenting. If you read some of our reviews you will see that most of our audience is captivated by our choice of music.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have both performed in many different venues worldwide with different groups or solo. Animo is a new venture and so far every performance has been met with great excitement and enjoyment.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We each have our heroes but as a duo we are carving out our own way constantly reinventing our style and voice, learning from colleagues and audiences alike.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Animo is a new venture (Covid curtailed our bookings in 2020/21). Our most ambitious gig so far was our 2019 Launch in Gloucester Blackfriars Priory. We are currently taking part in the Kindest Christmas KIND20 online worldwide music festival, December 17,2020.

Do you have different line-up options?

We are a Flute and Piano duo so it's just us two!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Timing changes are just like British weather to us! We plan for all eventualities. Just let us know if things change and we will do our best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

You are very welcome to play some of our pre-recorded tracks after the final set for an additional small fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

Depending on the live event and whether we are going to be using a PA system, we require between one and two hours set up time.

Can you roam around while you perform?

As a flute and piano classical duo, we are not really able to roam while performing.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are always open to discuss your ideas and see if we can adapt our repertoire around your requirements.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We will bring a PA only when we think it's necessary due to the size of the venue or the type of event. When we do we will quote a price that includes our equipment.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We would be very happy to add a new piece (minimum 1 week before the event). Since we are an instrumental duo, we would have to arrange the piece and rehearse it so there is a small extra fee to reflect our work of £40 extra. It's always a pleasure doing this for clients.

I had the pleasure of working with ANIMO in October 2019 for their launch event. They were fantastic to work with from start to finish and incredible musicians. The whole room was completely captivated watching them play and it was such a joy to experience such talent. I would highly recommend them for any event.

Thank you so much for a most delightful and inspiring evening of wonderful music in the company of friends.CG It was a wonderful evening and I was completely bowled over by your talent and passion for the composers you celebrated. The evening was amazing! Your music was like nothing that I’ve ever heard before and I really did feel like I was transported to a different space when I was listening to some of your pieces. 'A' and I were blown away by the versatility of Animo. The pieces were very atmospheric and made even more so by the surroundings. I'm not a great fan of contemporary music but I loved the pieces you played which weren't, as I would say, too off the wall! You make a great duo and look forward to hearing more from you both. Thank you all for such a lovely evening yesterday. What a splendid venue, beautifully decorated and the range of music was superb. We particularly liked the Bartok and the Andy Scott piece. VM 24th October 2019 What a thoroughly enjoyable event! The fabulous musicianship and a lovely atmosphere combined to make an unforgettable evening. ANIMO’s music is from the heart - through their choice of repertoire and the care and attention to detail displayed in their performance they created a wonderful, spellbinding concert. Beautiful, this is the start of something so exciting! I am so pleased for your both. Salt of the earth blew my socks off! Remarkable! So moving...I can't wait to hear more and follow you on this incredible journey! Beautiful evening. Thank you! What a fantastic experience. Thank you both for such a wonderful opportunity to listen to your talent. The music sent shivers down my spine! Thank you so much for this evening. I was transported. The hairs on the back of my neck are still standing. Such a wonderful sound, and a marvellous venue. On to the next concert... Stunning, beautiful, magical. No word to describe how special tonight was. What a fantastic journey you took us on! Thank you. For the first time in my life I am lost for words - I would just like to say that I feel the most privileged person to have watched you. Thank you both for a fabulous concert. “A mesmerising and fabulous evening." "A memorable evening" "Thank you so much for inviting us to such an amazing evening!!" "Everything was perfect. You are both fabulous!" My mother, M and I cannot thank you and Jan enough for inviting us to the launch of ‘Animo’. We were absolutely stunned by the venue, Blackfriars Priory and how 'J' enhanced the historic building so perfectly with the fairy lights and plants. The setting could not have been more perfect. The beauty of the building, however, was then surpassed once you and Sarah started playing. You are the most wonderful duo and it was the most exciting evening, to listen to such unique music which was played to such a high standard. Every piece was elevating and enthralling to listen to. Thank you too for the delicious canapes and warming glass of mulled wine. The whole evening was a joy to be at, totally inspiring. Thank you very much once again.
