Ana Pousa

Born in Portugal, Ana Pousa finished her undergraduate degree at ESMAE in Porto in 2014, having studied with António Salgado, Rui Taveira, Cecília Fontes and Job Tomé. While a student at ESMAE she was Rossignol in Ravel's L'Enfant et Les Sortilèges, Soeur Constance in Poulenc's Les Dialogues des Carmelites, Diana in Offenbach's Orphée aux Enfers and Königin der Nacht in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. In Scotland she was the Königin der Nacht in Edinburgh Studio Opera production of Die Zauberflöte in February of 2015; Lucia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Amor in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea for RCS Opera Scenes in March of 2015; Erste Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Suor Genovieffa in Puccini's Suor Angelica for RCS Opera Scenes in March of 2016. Ana sang Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Eneas with the Kellie Consort in July of 2016 and Madame Herz in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor with Fox Opera in August of 2016. In February of 2017, Ana sang in the UK premiere of Dan Shore's The Beautiful Bridegroom as Pernille, For Bridge Week Festival at RCS. In June, she performed The Governess in Britten's The Turn of the Screw and Adele in Strauss's Die Fledermaus, For RCS Opera Scenes. Ana, in August, performed for the first time the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Edinburgh Studio Opera in Loose Operatic Women. Later, in November, she performed the Königin der Nacht again with Fife Opera at the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy. She has graduated with a Master of Music in Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and continues to work with Clare Shearer.
