Amy Chang

Amy is a third year undergraduate reading Music at St. Catherine’s College. She started playing the piano at the age of 5, and attended a local music school in Sheffield, where she studied piano with Frances Clement. She accompanied numerous choirs at school but also outside, including Sheffield University Singing Society, Stannington Mixed Choir, and Sheffield Young Singers. As an active accompanist, she works with instrumentalists, singers and music theatre groups around Oxford. She was repetiteur for and played in shows such as The Gondoliers (G&S), Patience, HMS Pinafore, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables, the Marriage of Figaro, the Threepenny Opera and Dido and Aeneas. She also enjoys music directing shows, and has led a successful run of G&S's Pirates of Penzance as well as assisting many others. She has performed in a variety of venues, such as Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield Cathedral, Sheffield Firth Hall, the Japanese Embassy, the Roundhouse, the Oxford and Cambridge Club, Jacqueline Du Pre Building, Holywell Music Room, Rhodes House and the Sheldonian Theatre. Amy is the current accompanist of Oxford Girls’ Choir under the instruction of Richard Vendome, and studies piano with Jonathan Darnborough and Sholto Kynoch. Her other musical interests include chamber music, music editing, conducting, and infrequent ventures as a percussionist.
