Ami Lodge is a graduate of Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance, where she gained a Masters in Performance with distinction in 2016 under the instruction of Margaret Campbell, principal flute at the Royal Opera House. Whilst at Trinity, she participated in masterclasses with renowned flautists including Emily Beynon, Jonathan Snowden and Karen Jones, as well as performing alongside players from the Philharmonia Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Welsh National Opera in the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra side-by-side schemes. She was a winner of the Harold Clark Woodwind Soloists competition in May 2015 and also received the Michael Hirst award for Trinity flautists in 2016. Since graduating, Ami has continued to build her freelance work in London and the surrounding area, performing as an orchestral player, with opera companies and pit bands for musicals as well as with smaller ensembles and as a soloist. She is a member of the London Sylvan Ensemble, a flexible ensemble that works with various composers to perform premieres of their works, and she also performs many recitals as part of a flute and piano duo or flute and harp duo. Ami has also continued her professional training whilst auditioning for orchestral positions around Europe, studying mainly with Robert Winn, Margaret Campbell, Susan Milan and Christopher Green (piccolo). In 2017 she participated in the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme on piccolo in the Britten-Pears Orchestra, performing at the Royal Festival Hall and Snape Maltings in Aldeburgh under the baton of Marin Alsop. She also took part in the Emerging Artists scheme run by Westminster Opera Company over the summers of 2016 and 2017, playing productions of operas in the setting of a château in west France. As an experienced and dedicated teacher, Ami works in various schools in the West Surrey area, both privately and through Surrey Arts as well as teaching pupils of all ages privately.
