About Allison

Allison Stringer's profile picture
Violinist
Glasgow
Allison Stringer has been playing the violin for 26 years and holds a Masters from Codarts. She performs both classical and Celtic music.

Allison Stringer’s love of music stemmed at an early age when she began violin lessons at two and a half years old. Her home was constantly filled with a wide variety of music, mainly classical and folk which created the desire to follow both paths in her musical career. Allison’s formal education began in her native home of Canada studying classical music. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters of Music from Codarts University for the Arts and is currently pursuing a PhD in classical Scottish crossover music. She has studied with violinists such as Jerzy Kaplanek, David Zafer, Mayumi Seiler and Gordan Nikolic. Allison’s love of alternative music has led her to the world of folk music, specifically Scottish traditional fiddling and rock/folk fusion. She has played with musicians such as Loreena McKennit, Amanda Palmer as well as Sammy Duke in the folk music world. Outside of folk music, Allison has performed in the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam and with the Doelen Ensemble during their “Unremembered” tour as well as appearing as soloist with the Fifty Fiddles Orchestra and as the soloist premiering "The Lost and the Damned" by Adam Hakooz, Rotterdam, NL.
