Alexander was introduced to music by his family at a young age, and it soon became an important part of his life. He first started regular lessons with his cello when he was 10, and had his Grade 8 Cello with distinction by the age of 13. By 17 he had two QCF Level 6 Diplomas in Music Performance with Distinction (LRSM, LGSMD/LTCL). His passion for music eventually formed his decision to pursue a career as a cellist, training at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he Graduated in June 2017.
He has been lucky enough to have performed in numerous masterclasses with international cellists; Leonid Gorokhov, Alexander Bailey, Steven Doane, Melissa Phelps and Guy Johnston to name but a few.
At the Academy he has had the opportunity to perform under top international musicians including concert pianist Murray Perahia and harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock. In regards to conductors his portfolio includes big names including Sir Mark Elder of the Hallé Orchestra, Semyon Bychkov who has conducted all the major orchestras across Europe and the USA, Yan Pascal Tortelier and Sir Christopher Warren Green. He has also performed alongside composer John Rutter, Lesley Garrett and Jazz Pianist Laurie Holloway.
Aspiring as an orchestral player, the notable venues he has performed in the UK include Symphony Hall Birmingham, Leeds Town Hall, The Bridgewater Hall and King’s Place London. Abroad, his notable performance locations include La Mortella Gardens in Ischia, the Santa Maria Basilica in Rome, and the famous St Mark's Basilica in Venice. As a payed orchestral player he performed across China, including the Great Hall of the People (Beijing), Nanjing International Youth Cultural Centre, Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, Hangzhou Grand Theatre and Shenzhen Concert Hall.
He has been invited for audition by numerous orchestras across Europe, including the Swedish Radio Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris and Arctic Philharmonic. He aspires to one day hold a full-time position with a notable orchestra.
