Adrian Varela conductor

Adrian is the Conductor and Artistic Director of the Polish National Youth Orchestra and in the UK, of the One Tree Hill Sinfonia. From 2017-2022 he was Director of Music at de Montfort University, Leicester, where he conducted many symphonic and choral concerts. Adrian is an experienced conductor with years of live radio performances under his belt. He delights in pulling together musicians of all descriptions in order to create a memorable occasion. Originally from Uruguay, London-based Adrian Varela began conducting studies at age 15 with the great Lorin Maazel at Interlochen, USA. He later continued with Montenegro in Argentina, with whom he further developed his technique studying the approaches of Celebidache and Ceccato. His first conducting jobs were small opera in his native Uruguay. In 2014 he set up the One Tree Hill Sinfonia in London, and the following year was appointed Conductor and Artistic Director of the Polish National Youth Orchestra after a single patch of work.
